I’m not sure how Epic feel this experiment is going back a Sweeney HQ, but these transient visitors only seem to be interested in the free games. Yet despite this ploy to gain traction, the EGS still feels empty and soulless. The other strategy Epic employ to entice gamers onto their store is throwing free games around, like Jack Nicholson’s Joker pitching wads of cash at folks in the 1989 Batman. Years later it’s unfortunate that an increasing number of gamers have developed a level of tolerance for these exclusives. It was even more bewildering as Epic had the connections and resources to build a real store crammed with all the features offered by Valve.

This move was an aggressive and frankly selfish way for Tim Sweeney to force his way into PC Gaming. Then the exclusive fuckery started and I immediately boycotted the EGS as I had seen how divisive this practice had been in the console space. As a mark of support, I purchased Hades (early access). Some healthy completion for Steam was never going to be a bad thing. When the Epic Games Store first launched, I was truly on board. As Unity is currently trying to self-implode, they are an even more significant cog in the machine. Too easy to get lost, too much inventory management, and not enough story progression guidance.Epic is a very important company as they own and develop one of the very best creation engines in the industry. Even once you can reach it, there's a bunch of obnoxious enemies surrounding the area making exploration overly laborious. You want to go investigate the big obvious story point? You need a ton of special equipment. The method in which story beats are introduced feels completely random, and often make sense only in hindsight if at all.

There's no way to connect the dots without either a walk through, or excessive patience through trial and error. You built it? Well, that doesn't actually trigger the next story beat. Got the blueprint? Great, figure out where to get the materials. You want to build something? Hope you found the random object that lets you build it. Progressing through the story is a constant struggle. It's usually in a different spot each time, due to simply not discovering some random object or location. There's so many, many threads all over the internet where people are asking "what am I supposed to do now?" then listing all the things they have done.
However, if that isn't your driving force, and you are unlucky or impatient, the game is not rewarding. If you enjoy discovery as a main game play mechanic, this is a bonus. Progress relies completely on stumbling across the right discovery.
There's one main flaw in this game, which is a complete lack of guidance. I enjoyed it for a few hours, but after a while it's become tedious and boring. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my son many happy memories. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loaded into the game and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. My son got this game for from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. I am a 55 year old biker and trucker father, and probably one of the oldest people playing this game.
